In this brief blog entry you may reference how and why to use a standard ruled pocket size Moleskine notebook in an attempt to create a useful Getting Things Done (GTD) system. While the how will follow this paragraph, the why is equally important. Because the old mantra "mind like water" is an insightful one, the practice is often more difficult then needed. Even if you actively practice the collection of thoughts, ideas, and actions the use of a system maybe be invaluable.

Easy-Peasy Ubuntu Linux NFS File Sharing

In this brief blog entry I will note the steps it took for me to use the Network File System (NFS) protocol to share files between another Linux computer. All machines in this lab are either Debian GNU/Linux (unstable) or Ubuntu Linux (breezy badger 5.10 w/ back-port upgrades). After reading countless threads and comments for file sharing they all pretty much suggested SaMBa as the simplest solution. In case you aren't familiar SaMBa software will allow a UNIX machine to act as a file server to Windows clients. SMB is fine if you _need_ to share with DOS but we don't need that here. Another option is NFS.

Exporting FriendFeed Subscribers

This blog entry will briefly note the steps to export your friendfeed subscribers name and emails. I imagine this will work w/ any social networking site that forwards email addresses (Plurk for example) but today I'm doing friendfeed. Tools used; Thunderbird, VIM, and Gmail.

Identi.ca == Twitter Linux OR Twitter Torrent

Identi.ca Friend @bitfaker wrote an entry at haochen.wordpress.com regarding the release of identi.ca. This micro-blogging solution claims to be an open source (so one day a decentralized or federation Identi.ca) status tool, aka twitter linux aka twitter torrent. The general idea is; hack it, mod it, tweak it, and see what happens.
